This search tool identifies the specific Research Box (if any, or boxes if more than one) that contain material matching the search criteria entered by the user. The primary purpose of the RBST is to maximize the success of persons seeking information in the Museum's collection of approximately 150 Research Boxes. (Physically, the boxes are each identified by a unique Box Title and arrayed on shelves in alphabetical order.) Search Criteria. Searches of the Research Boxes can be conducted using one or more of five search criteria: - Time Period (Categorical: Before 1806; 1806-1916; 1917-1945; 1946-Present) via selection from a dropdown menu - Location (Categorical: Vancouver; Other Communities; Clark County; Washington; Oregon; Pacific NW; Other States) via dropdown menu - Media Type (Categorical: Booklets; Correspondence; Newsletters; News clippings; Pamphlets; Reports; Other) via dropdown menu - Content (open-ended text representing "Content" notes about the subject matter of the items in a box) via a word or phrase entered by the user - Publication (open-end text) via a word or phrase entered by the user Research Box materials other than Publications have NOT been completely inventoried but the contents of each box have been systematically assessed and labelled, as a whole, in terms of Time Period(s), Location(s), Media Type(s), and Content (subject matter) of the items contained therein. "Publications" (such as reports, booklets and newsletters but not news clippings nor copies of photographs) contained within the Research Boxes have been completely inventoried. The user can search through publications by using words or phrases believed to be part of the title, author's name, date of publication, and/or words that might match those in brief content notes th‘LVAL¡at sometimes accompany publications.êîëõËôJ‰g85 Oú¢ýd5U`ðaábö cd e¼Ü Label4Ý.What do you want to do?êäô)s7róG²FŒæpKýf23U`áa b81Ü Line2ß•¼§Ê}ºE¨ªyó=²ýf23U`Òa–b81Ü Line3ß-†~bO˜EiÑ“u/—ýh1U`,a b The site has been known by many names, including Hanford Works, Hanford Engineer Works, Hanford Nuclear Reservation or HNR, and the Hanford Project. Established in 1943 as part of the Manhattan Project, it was home to the B-Reactor, the first full-scale plutonium production reactor in the world. Plutonium manufactured at the site was used in the first nuclear bomb, tested at the Trinity site, and in Fat Man, the bomb detonated over Nagasaki, Japan. The weapons production reactors were decommissioned at the end of the Cold War, but the manufacturing process left behind 53 million U.S. gallons of high-level radioactive waste that remains at the site. This represents two-thirds of the nation's high-level radioactive waste by volume. Today, Hanford is the most contaminated nuclear site in the United States and is the focus of the nation's largest environmental cleanup.
